The Police Service Commission (PSC) is discussing with the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) to establish a collaborative framework for deploying an Artificial Intelligence-enabled complaint response and case management system aimed at strengthening ethical policing across Nigeria.
The NECA delegation, led by its Director General, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, said the visit on Tuesday seeks to explore how the proposed digital system could improve transparency in police operations and protect the rights of employers.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu, received the delegation alongside Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, the commissioner representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd, fdc), the Honourable Commissioner representing the Police.
Argungu expressed the commission’s readiness to collaborate with NECA in advancing the quality and professionalism of police officers, emphasising that the partnership aligns with ongoing reforms to modernise Nigeria’s security institutions through technology and ethical training.
According to a statement by the PSC Head, Press and Public Relations Ikechukwu Ani. Argungu reassured the commission’s cooperation in developing and implementing the digital complaint management system.
According to him, the initiative would “enhance accountability and build public confidence in law enforcement.”
“Your ideas will help us grow positive policing and we are happy you are here to assist us,” Argungu said.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Oyerinde explained that the collaboration seeks to establish a strategic partnership that would help the Commission strengthen integrity and ethical conduct in the police service.
“NECA is the voice of the private sector, we want to assist the Commission in handling the treatment of complaints to ensure integrity and reduce the incidence of extortion and corruption in the system.
“We are the voice of business, we represent the interests of the Nigerian private sector and we collaborate with strategic Government Agencies.
“We collaborate with Government Agencies and champion the interests of corporate and critical sectors of the Nigerian economy,” Oyerinde said.
He further pledged that NECA would offer free professional training for PSC staff at the association’s academy in Abuja as part of its contribution to building a more transparent and efficient complaint-handling structure within the police system.
