Tinubu Praises EFCC Chairman’s Professionalism

President Bola Tinubu has commended Olanipekun Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for his professionalism and courage in fighting corruption and economic crimes as he clocks 56 today (October 14).

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Olukoyede’s commitment to transparency in governance and institutional reforms within Nigeria’s anti-graft framework.

The president further hailed Olukoyede’s establishment of a special task force on currency offences aimed at combating naira abuse and the dollarisation of the economy.

He also commended the EFCC chairman for introducing a strategic framework in the fight against cybercrimes and economic sabotage.

“President Tinubu says Mr Olukoyede has demonstrated professionalism and courage in the discharge of his duties, reinforcing the EFCC’s mission to rid the nation of economic and financial crimes.

“President Tinubu prays that almighty God will guard and guide the EFCC chairman and bless his determination to free Nigeria from the economic ills that have tied us down for ages,” said Onanuga.

Olukoyede assumed office as EFCC boss after a 22-year career in regulatory compliance consulting, fraud management, and business intelligence

Before his appointment, he served as the Commission’s Secretary from 2018 to 2023 and previously worked as Chief of Staff to a former chairman of the Commission from 2016 to 2018.

A certified fraud examiner, he has led investigations and civil litigation of fraud and financial crimes in international development projects.

Before joining the EFCC, Olukoyede worked as a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel in the United Kingdom and sits on the Federal Government Technical Committee on the Repositioning of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.
