Insider Information: Finidi Picks Super Eagles Skipper with Hints on Starting Line-Up
Nigeria’s current coach, Finidi George, has teased his potential starting lineup for the upcoming international friendly clash against Ghana, set to take place at Stade de Marrakech in Morocco. The Black Stars of Ghana are gearing up to battle it out against the Super Eagles.
In a surprising twist, regular Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, will be absent from the game, alongside Deputy captain William Troost-Ekong. In a twist of events, Finidi hinted that either Kelechi Iheanacho or Wilfred Ndidi, both of Leicester City, could step up to wear the captain’s armband for the match. Ndidi has previously led the team during 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe.
Addressing the media in a post-match briefing, Finidi revealed, “Ndidi is there or Kelechi? Definitely, we want to win it. We’re sticking to our tactical approach, with a few enhancements to boost the players’ energy levels. Our focus will be on tactical play and swift ball recovery to secure a victory.”
