Mr Al-Amin stated that Mr Zango’s claim of a genotype mismatch shouldn’t have been aired on social media, adding that the excuse lacks credibility.
Kano-based TikTok star G-Fresh Al-Amin has tackled Kannywood actor Adam Zango following his divorce from his sixth wife, calling Mr Zango’s given reason for the split incomprehensible and ridiculous.
Mr Zango had confirmed his separation from Maimuna Musa, popularly known as Maimuna Pretty, in a social media post.
According to Mr Zango, they parted ways after discovering they both have the AS genotype.
He explained that the decision was made to avoid the risk of having children with sickle cell anaemia.
Mr Zango also shared a video showing his former wife leaving his home, assuring fans that the separation was amicable and cautioning the public against spreading false rumours about him.
Mr Al-Amin and his wife stated that genotype testing is a mandatory premarital requirement, adding that Mr Zango’s explanation only served to ridicule the Kannywood actor.
”You shouldn’t be so uninformed as to conduct only an HIV test without getting a comprehensive medical checkup—including a genotype test before marriage.”
They further argued that the matter should never have been posted on social media because, instead of inspiring people, the public exposure only invites mockery.
”You owed no one an explanation; you should have kept quiet,” the couple stated.
“Even if I were in a relationship with another woman, she would have to undergo a full medical checkup before anything else”, Mr Al-Amin added.
The Kannywood star is as famous for his movies and music as he is for his serial marriages and divorces.
His marital journey began in 2006 when he married his first wife, Amina. The union produced a son named Haidar, though the reasons for their eventual divorce remain unknown.
Mr Zango later married Aisha, who hails from Zaria. Before their divorce, Aisha gave birth to three sons.
He then married his third wife, Maryam, from Nasarawa State, but that union also ended in divorce. In 2013, just months after starring together in the film Nas, Mr Zango married actress Maryam Yola in Lugbe, Abuja.
In 2015, the actor tied the knot with his fifth wife, Ummul Kulsum, a Cameroonian from Ngaoundere. She gave birth to Mr Zango’s first daughter, Murjanatu.
In 2019, Mr Zango announced his sixth marriage, to Safiya (popularly known as Sufy) from Jega, Kebbi State. In this marriage, Mr Zango reportedly said ” I am going to marry my sweetheart, Safiya, and she will be my wife till eternity. I will live with her forever.”
He later posted another video showing his new house about to be completed. In the video, Mr Zango said, “Here I am presenting my new wife with our new house. I can’t wait to see you here.”
Since 2006, all six marriages have ended in divorce. His marriage—to Safiya Umar in April 2019—ended in divorce in 2023.
Although rumours occasionally claim higher numbers, with the latest divorce count claimed to be the seventh, public records and media tracking confirm six official marriages.
Across his marriages, Mr Zango is reportedly a father to seven children: six boys and one girl.
