The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on local and international investors to take advantage of the vast business and economic opportunities available in the FCT to drive sustainable growth and development.
Wike made the call at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Abuja Business and Investment Summit (ABIEXPO) held at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The summit, themed “Empowering Sustainable Growth: Unlocking Potentials in Emerging Markets,” attracted participants from across Nigeria and several countries, including South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Botswana.
Represented by the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transforming Abuja into a beacon of sustainable development and a preferred destination for investors in Africa.
“As Abuja symbolizes Nigeria’s aspirations, our mission, supported by Mr. President, is to make it a safe, investment-friendly city that empowers all citizens,” the Minister said.
He emphasised that the current leadership of the FCT Administration, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is focused on inclusive growth, infrastructure revitalization, and job creation, noting that these pillars form the backbone of Nigeria’s economic transformation drive.
Wike highlighted the administration’s efforts in strengthening infrastructure development across the territory, particularly road networks linking satellite towns, area councils, and rural communities to the city centre, to enhance mobility, productivity, and access to emerging markets.
“Infrastructure remains the foundation of industrialization and sustainable development. We are working to ensure that every investment in the FCT is supported by efficient systems and a transparent, enabling environment,” he said.
The Minister commended the Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL) for organizing what he described as a “pivotal platform for strategic partnerships” that will accelerate Abuja’s economic growth and competitiveness.
He also assured stakeholders that the FCT Administration remains open to innovative ideas and partnerships aimed at deepening investment opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship, and unlocking potentials in new and emerging markets.
“The FCT Administration remains steadfast in building a sustainable, flourishing capital city and enhancing Nigeria’s position on the continental and global stage,” Wike stated.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AICL, Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, said the 2025 Abuja Business and Investment Expo aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which seeks to strengthen investor confidence, stabilize the micro-economy, and stimulate sustainable growth.
Tamuno explained that AICL, as the investment arm of the FCT Administration, continues to play a vital role in attracting investors through its subsidiaries and strategic projects designed to support the city’s transformation into a resilient and globally competitive metropolis.
“ABIEXPO 2025 marks the next chapter of Abuja’s transformation into a resilient, globally competitive city,” she said.
She also revealed that this year’s edition of the summit features dedicated Youth Day and Women’s Day sessions aimed at promoting inclusion, connecting innovators with investors, and ensuring that no one is left behind in Abuja’s economic advancement.
Tamuno added that the Expo serves as a bridge between policymakers, innovators, and investors, fostering collaboration to harness Abuja’s full economic potential.
