Woman in Enugu Gives Birth in Kidnappers’ Hideout
On her way to the hospital for delivery, a pregnant woman was abducted and reportedly gave birth in the kidnappers’ hideout in Egede, Udi local government area of Enugu State.
Last Monday, the woman delivered a healthy baby boy in the forest where she was held captive.
Identified as Chinwendu Igwe, the woman was accompanied by her two young children, aged between two and four years, during the abduction.
Her husband, Mr. Ekene Igwe, confirmed the incident to reporters and mentioned that he paid a ransom of N1.6 million before securing the release of his wife and newborn from the forest in Egede, where the kidnappers had demanded the ransom be deposited.
He expressed gratitude to a generous motorcyclist who rescued his abandoned two kids from the roadside after the abduction.
“I had to pay N1.6 million before reuniting with my wife and the newborn baby,” he stated.
Igwe, a native of Attakwu Akegbe Ugwu Awkunanaw, expressed his thanks to God for their safe return.
