mpeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu is back in the fold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) group he helped that he helped Governor Godwin Obaseki to take the party from.

Shaibu makes the return to the group known as Legacy after a nasty fallout with Obaseki that cost him his position as Deputy Govenor.

Shaibu whose extraordinary closeness with Obaseki resulted in outwitting other political players in PDP – after they used the party to secure a second term in 2022 – was removed from office on April 8, 2024 over what he described as refusal to back down on his gubernatorial ambition.

Obaseki refused to back Shaibu’s ambition and opted for Asue Ighodalo who emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP for the September 2024 Edo state gubernatorial election.

The face-off between Govenor Obaseki and his impeached Deputy became has become so bad that, Shaibu is forced to find a political home way from the reach of his principal.

My sincere appreciation goes to the leaders, especially Chief Dan Orbih, for their selfless dedication and unwavering support. His words still resonate with me: “Edo North is proud of you, we stand by you.” Their words remind us that we must always put the people first and stay true to our values.

As we move forward, I am committed to staying connected with the people and working together towards a greater Edo.

Together, we will build a brighter future for Edo State.

The power is in our hands, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.”
