Commissioner Seeks NSCDC Support To Combat Illegal Mining In Kwara
The Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development in Kwara State, Honourable Alabi Afeez Abolore, has commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for its relentless efforts in combating illegal mining activities in the state.
The newly appointed Commissioner made this commendation during a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Commandant Umar J.G Mohammed (PhD), today, April 7, 2024, at the state command headquarters in Ilorin.
The Commissioner highlighted the challenges faced by the mining sector, particularly the menace of illegal mining and the illicit carting away of the nation’s mineral resources. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to fully engage the services of the corps to halt illegal mining through a renewed onslaught against those exploiting the nation’s resources unlawfully.
In his response, Commandant Umar congratulated the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Dr. Alabi Afeez Abolore, on his new appointment and appreciated him for the visit.
He emphasize that the Corps will continue to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development towards revamping the sector and curbing illegal mining activities in the State.
