he African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that it has successfully uploaded the particulars of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal, marking another milestone in its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Abdullahi, the submission of the candidates’ details to the electoral body’s portal underscores the party’s readiness to participate in the 2027 presidential election.
“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of the @INECNigeria,” he wrote.
He described the development as another significant step in the ADC’s election preparations.
“This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity, and national renewal,” Abdullahi added.
The upload of candidates’ particulars is one of the statutory processes political parties undertake in the build-up to general elections, enabling the electoral commission to process nominations in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
The development comes as political parties continue to intensify activities ahead of the 2027 polls, with the ADC positioning itself as a major opposition platform.
Atiku, a former Vice President of Nigeria and multiple-time presidential candidate, is leading the ADC’s presidential ticket, while former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, is the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
The party has consistently maintained that it aims to provide Nigerians with what it describes as a credible alternative focused on competence, national unity and renewed leadership ahead of the next general election.
