2027: APC Mobilises 4m Canvassers For Tinubu’s Re-election Drive

Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Wednesday unveiled an ambitious nationwide grassroots mobilisation structure comprising more than 4.4 million canvassers to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Uzodimma, who spoke at the National Mobilisation Retreat of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Abuja, said the President’s performance in office had earned him the right to seek a second term.

The retreat, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and themed “Building a Unified National Mobilisation Architecture,” attracted governors, ministers, party leaders, former public office holders and grassroots mobilisation coordinators from across the country.

Speaking as Director-General of the RHA, Uzodimma said the organisation had already deployed mobilisation teams across the federation’s polling units as part of a strategy to deepen grassroots engagement and build support for the administration.

He argued that despite the challenges that accompanied the implementation of key policy reforms, the Tinubu administration had demonstrated courage by pursuing measures previous governments avoided.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated courage in taking difficult decisions that previous administrations avoided. The Renewed Hope Agenda is a comprehensive plan to rebuild Nigeria and secure a better future for generations to come,” he said.

The governor cited investments in infrastructure, healthcare, social intervention programmes and economic reforms as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.

According to him, the mobilisation structure spans the six geopolitical zones, 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards and the country’s 176,846 polling units.

Uzodimma disclosed that the RHA plans to deploy 25 canvassers to each polling unit.
“At twenty-five canvassers to a polling unit, that is a lawful civic force of 4,421,150 people across the federation. That is the mathematics of serious mobilisation. That is the difference between hoping to win and organising to win,” he said.

He stressed that the initiative was designed not only to mobilise political support but also to enhance public understanding of government policies and reforms.

“We mobilise without arrogance. We persuade without insult. We defend the President without insulting the citizen. We answer hard questions without losing our temper,” he added.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the organisation, urged members to strengthen grassroots engagement and improve communication between government and the people.

Also speaking, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State described the retreat as a significant step towards building a cohesive national mobilisation network capable of reaching communities across the country.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, expressed confidence in the administration’s economic reforms, saying ongoing measures were helping to stabilise the economy and create opportunities for sustainable growth.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yiltwada, commended members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for supporting the party’s grassroots expansion efforts and promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He urged members to remain united and disciplined, stressing that effective mobilisation would be critical to consolidating the gains of the administration ahead of future elections.

The retreat is expected to produce a national grassroots mobilisation blueprint, strategic communication frameworks and state-by-state action plans aimed at strengthening political engagement and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In his vote of thanks, the RHA Director of Organisation and Mobilisation, Chief Olisa Metuh, called on members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and public enlightenment campaigns in support of the administration, particularly its efforts to tackle insecurity.

Metuh described the level of preparation and political engagement being undertaken by the APC ahead of the 2027 elections as unprecedented and urged Nigerians to remain patient with ongoing economic reforms, expressing confidence that they would ultimately yield lasting benefits.
