FCT Police: Viral video of robbery incident not in Abuja
Disputing claims of a robbery incident in Abuja shown in a viral video involving a “Right Hand Drive” car, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has clarified the situation.
Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the command, stated in a release on Wednesday night that “the alleged incident did not occur within the Federal Capital Territory” as portrayed in the online video clip.
Analyzing the viral video, it became evident that the robbery did not even happen in Nigeria, according to Adeh.
The conclusion was reached based on the vehicle registration plate design and the steering position being Right Hand Drive (RHD).
Pointing out that Nigeria does not allow RHD vehicles on its roads and the infrastructure is not designed for such cars, as seen in the video, Adeh continued her statement.
“The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, psc, mni, advises against further circulation of the video to prevent causing unnecessary fear among the public,” the statement urged.
