Shooting Stars’ Omololu remains optimistic for Continental spot
Omololu Waheed Abiodun, a defender for Shooting Stars, is looking ahead with hope to the team’s chances of clinching a spot in continental competitions.
Expressing his confidence, Omololu believes that the Oluyole Warriors possess the qualities needed to secure a position among the top three teams in the league.
As it stands, Shooting Stars currently hold the sixth spot on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 49 points, trailing six points behind the leading team, Rangers, who have amassed 54 points.
Reflecting on their recent match, he shared, “It was a game we were eager to win to strengthen our campaign for the league title and a top-three finish, but things didn’t go as planned,” in a statement to the club’s media.
Embracing the unpredictability of football, he added, “In this sport, you can win, draw, or lose. Nonetheless, I am confident that we will bounce back to victory this Sunday as we welcome Sunshine Stars to our home ground.”
He stressed, “We need to move past that setback and concentrate on the upcoming matches, focusing on the goal of winning each one, which is certainly achievable.”
This weekend, Shooting Stars are set to clash with Sunshine Stars in a South West derby in Ibadan.
