At least 10 residents have been killed and about 40 others abducted after bandits attacked Tofa community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack reportedly occurred during the night, with the assailants also leaving several residents injured.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post on X on Monday, citing local sources.
According to the report, the attackers stormed the community and killed at least 10 residents before abducting dozens of others.
Bakatsine said the number of abducted residents was still being verified, although local sources estimated that between 38 and 40 people were taken away.
“The attackers were also said to have rustled a large number of livestock and looted properties belonging to residents before leaving the community,” Bakatsine wrote.
The latest attack adds to the security challenges confronting communities in parts of Sokoto State, where bandit attacks and abductions have continued to threaten residents and disrupt economic activities.
The exact number of casualties and abductees could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
