Champion Breweries Plc has announced the assumption of office of Malolan Sampath as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September.
Mr Sampath’s assumption of office follows the Board’s earlier announcement of his appointment as part of the company’s leadership transition.
PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported in June that Mr Sampath’s appointment followed the resignation of Inalegwu Adoga as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The company said his appointment comes as it enters a new phase of growth and transformation.
According to the Board, Mr Sampath’s experience in manufacturing, commercial execution, business transformation and leadership across diverse markets will help advance the company’s objectives.
The company added that the appointment will also strengthen its market position and deliver sustainable long-term value to shareholders and other stakeholders.
The company also commended Rasheed Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, for his leadership and commitment during his tenure as Acting Managing Director during the transition period.
Mr Sampath has 26 years of leadership experience as Managing Director across the beverage, fast-moving consumer goods, manufacturing, and agro-industrial sectors, including building and transforming businesses across Africa.
His experience in the beverage and brewing industry includes serving as Managing Director of Unique Beverages in Angola and Sales and Marketing Director for a PepsiCo bottling franchise, in addition to earlier experience in the brewing sector.
Before joining Champion Breweries, Mr Sampath served as Managing Director of NPK Joint Venture and Chief Marketing Officer at Indorama Eleme Fertilisers in Nigeria.
He also previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Global Industries Limited, a Wilmar International joint venture in Zambia.
Mr Sampath holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from the Symbiosis Centre for Management & HRD, Pune, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Chennai.
