The 16th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II has on Friday elevated six traditional title holders under his Emirate.
The Monarch, while speaking at the turbaning ceremony held at his Kofar Kudu palace, said the traditional leaders were elevated based on merits considering their outstanding contributions to the Emirate and serving humanity.
Emir Sanusi implored them on the need to be good ambassadors of the Emirate to serve as exemplary leaders or role models to others.
He urged them to always strive to live up to the expectation in order to juxtapose the confidence repose on them.
Emir Sanusi, however, charged them to continue to live in peace with their subjects and to contribute their best to any move aimed at promoting health care service delivery to the people, security matters, education as well as other aspects of humanitarian upliftment.
In their separate vote of thanks, the new Dokajin Kano and district head of Darmanawa, Alhaji Mujitapha Abubakar-Abba and Sarkin Yakin Kano, Amb. Ahmad Umar expressed gratitude to the emir for the opportunity given to them to serve in their various capacities.
They pledge to discharge their work with all seriousness and call on their people to give all the necessary support and cooperation to enable them to discharge their duties diligently.
NAN reports that the turbaning ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, business community, political associates, academia as well as others family friends and well wishers.
Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Wudil was elevated from Dokajin Kano to Sarkin Sudan, Alhaji Mujitapha Abubakar-Abba from Sarkin Yakin to Dokajin Kano while Amb. Ahmed Umar was elevated from Jarman Kano to Sarkin Yakin Kano.
Others elevated included Alhaji Shafiu Ahmad as Talban Kano, Alhaji Jafar Khalil-Muhammad as Jarman Kano and Sanusi Bello as Ajiyan Kano.
