“Everybody who attacked me on Gombe road project lost their Senate tickets” – Umahi

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has claimed that politicians who criticised him over federal road projects, particularly during budget defences at the National Assembly, lost their bids to return to the Senate.

The minister made the remarks while inspecting the Gombe-Biu Federal Road project over the weekend.

He specifically taunted Senator Rufai Hanga, who questioned some aspects of the projects, including its financing, without visiting the sites.

“And because he had not visited but I saw it as politics but technically anybody who attacked me on this road project lost his ticket to come back to the Senate.

“And so, for me I will say Senator Hanga, Eeeyah! Because instead of appreciating what we are doing which he never visited even for one day,” Umahi said.

He, however commended some of the lawmakers who supported him throughout the project’s budget defence.

“But you know these senators and House of Representatives members they are very very much angry during that defence because they have always been coming with us and so I will allow them to speak for themselves,” the Minister stated.

The Minister’s remark comes amid the recent APC primaries conducted ahead of the 2027 general elections, in which several sitting senators failed to secure their return tickets.
