Hisbah Arrests Woman Over Alleged Witchcraft In Zamfara

The Zamfara State Hisbah Commission has arrested a woman, Khadija Abdullahi, over allegations of engaging in witchcraft-related activities at her residence in the Gadar Baga area of Gusau.

The commission’s spokesperson, Umar Haruna Tsafe, said the arrest followed complaints from community leaders who reported suspected spiritual practices at the woman’s home.

According to him, Hisbah operatives raided the residence after receiving intelligence from residents about the alleged activities.

The commission’s Director of Operations, Lawal Abubakar Maradun, said the suspect, during interrogation, admitted using certain perfumes and claimed to possess spiritual powers.

Maradun also alleged that Abdullahi told investigators she prayed over water and gave it to people who sought treatment for various ailments.

He added that another woman, identified as Asiya Lawal, was found at the residence during the operation.

According to the commission, Lawal had visited the house to seek spiritual healing for an illness.
