The Federal Government is set to commence the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme in Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states, with youths and other eligible Nigerians expected to acquire practical skills in high-demand vocational trades.
The programme, being implemented by the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, under the N-POWER initiative, is part of a nationwide skills development intervention designed to promote entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment and expand economic opportunities.
Saturn Sphere Concepts Ltd, a media consultancy firm, is coordinating media coverage for the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme in Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.
The National Programme Manager of N-POWER, Nsikak Amos Okon, said the initiative would provide beneficiaries with practical vocational training and empower them with skills that could support self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Mr Okon said the programme reflects the commitment of the Federal Government to addressing unemployment and poverty through skills acquisition and economic empowerment.
He urged prospective beneficiaries in Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that vocational skills had become increasingly important in improving employability and creating pathways to entrepreneurship.
“The Federal Government is focused on improving the economic power of Nigerians and adding value to their lives through sustainable skills development,” Mr Okon said.
The programme will cover 14 high-demand vocational trades, including automobile technology, agricultural technology, baking and confectionery, carpentry, catering services, electrical installation, housekeeping, jewellery and bead making, masonry, plumbing, welding and fabrication, fashion design and sewing, grinding machine operations, and vulcanising and tyre services.
Under the nationwide programme, more than 18,000 Nigerians are expected to receive training across 220 designated centres in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
NSIPA said the intervention was designed not merely as a training exercise but as a pathway to economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and poverty reduction.
Beneficiaries are also expected to receive starter packs at the end of the training to support the practical application of the skills acquired.
Mr Okon advised participants to make productive use of the starter packs rather than dispose of them, stressing that the items were intended to help beneficiaries translate their training into sustainable economic activities.
He also assured beneficiaries that training allowances would be paid directly into their respective bank accounts in a transparent manner.
The commencement of the programme in Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states is expected to provide more opportunities for young people and other beneficiaries to acquire marketable skills and improve their economic prospects.
