“North Cheaper, East Costlier” — Air Peace, United Nigeria Peg Yuletide Flights To South East, South South At ₦350,500

Two of Nigeria’s major domestic airlines, Air Peace Airlines and United Nigeria Airlines, have fixed their yuletide one-way economy tickets from Lagos and Abuja to the South East and South South at ₦350,500.

The affected routes include flights to Owerri, Enugu, Anambra, Port Harcourt, and Asaba, with return trips from these airports to Lagos and Abuja also priced at the same fare. The new rates are already displayed on the airlines’ official booking platforms.

The yuletide season typically witnesses a surge in passenger traffic, especially on eastern and southern routes, often leading to sharp increases in airfares.

For Air Peace, the ₦350,500 fare will apply from December 1, 2025, through January 30, 2026, while United Nigeria’s fare of ₦350,500 will run from December 11 until the end of December. However, beginning January 1, 2026, United Nigeria will reduce one-way fares on select routes, including Abuja to Asaba, Anambra, Port Harcourt, and Owerri, to ₦150,000.

Comparatively, fares charged on northern routes during the yuletide appear lower. For instance, Air Peace tickets on the Lagos–Kano route are priced around ₦106,900, although on certain days the fare spikes to ₦350,500. United Nigeria has pegged its Lagos–Kano ticket at ₦220,499.

Air Peace will also charge ₦350,500 on days it operates flights from Lagos to Yola, up from its regular ₦240,200, while inbound passengers from Yola to Lagos will pay the same yuletide fare. On the Lagos–Sokoto route, United Nigeria has fixed its tickets at ₦250,000, compared to the usual ₦175,500.

Other domestic carriers have also adjusted their yuletide fares. Ibom Air raised its Lagos–Uyo ticket to ₦190,800 from December 1, up from ₦152,700. Similarly, Arik Air has set its Lagos–Port Harcourt tickets at ₦191,997 between December 10 and 28, after which the fare drops to ₦140,617.
