Okpebholo Begins Second Flyover Construction In Benin

…Approves N17m Refund For School Principals

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has commenced the construction of the second flyover bridge in Benin City.

The governor described the move as part of his administration’s urban renewal and traffic decongestion plan for the Edo South Senatorial District.

The project, located at the Adesuwa–Sapele Road intersection, according to the state government, is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity within the metropolis.

In a statement on Friday, the government urged residents, motorists, and other road users to cooperate with contractors and government officials on site.

“Construction work has commenced on the second flyover project at Adesuwa Road Junction, along Sapele Road, Benin City.

Residents, motorists and other road users are kindly advised to cooperate with contractors and adhere to traffic diversion instructions,” the statement read.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to executing infrastructural projects that will enhance economic activities, create jobs, and improve the overall quality of life for Edo residents.

Meanwhile, in the education section, the state government approved the refund of over N17m owed to executive principals of senior secondary schools across the State.

The government said the debt, inherited from the previous administration, arose from unpaid uniform funds handled by a former consultant to the Ministry of Education.

A delegation of executive principals led by Onaifo Osemwengie, Executive Principal of Egor Senior Secondary School, had appealed for the refund during a visit to the Senior Secondary Education Board (SSEB).

Expressing gratitude to the Governor for his approval, the Executive Chairman of SSEB, Maureen Ekhoragbon, noted that the gesture would restore confidence and morale among school administrators.
