The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ardo Risku Mohammed, and one Yakubu Isa.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, the command described the arrests as a major milestone in the ongoing investigation into Ardo Risku’s death.
The arrests followed intelligence gathering and tactical collaboration operations carried out by police operatives in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026.
The 10 arrested suspects are Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their response and professionalism, describing the arrests as a major step towards ensuring justice for the victims.
He assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the killings.
The CP also assured that all suspected culprits would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He appealed to residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and provide intelligence information that could assist the investigation.
Ardo Risku Mohammed and his associate, Yakubu Isa, were ambushed and shot dead shortly after attending a peace meeting in Otukpo Local Government Area.
The command condemned the killing and promised to arrest and prosecute those responsible.
