Bright Edafe, the police spokesperson in Delta, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba.
The Police Command in Delta State has arrested a suspected female drug peddler and recovered quantities of illicit drugs in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Edafe, a superintendent of police, said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 40-year-old suspect during a covert operation in Agbor.
According to him, the arrest was carried out on 6 September, following credible intelligence received by the operatives about suspected drug peddling activities in the area.
“A search warrant was executed at her residence in Agbor-Obi, where quantities of Swinol, Tramadol, Codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered,” Mr Edafe said.
He said the suspect and the recovered exhibits were in police custody while investigation into the case was ongoing.
Mr Edafe quoted the Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale, as assuring residents of the command’s commitment to track down persons involved in criminal activities.
The commissioner urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the police in crime-prevention across the state.
He advised residents to contact the nearest police station or the Command Control Room.
