Police Seize 2,000 Diazepam Tablets In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered 2,000 tablets of suspected Diazepam during an operation in Funtua Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jibrin Salisu, was apprehended by operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, during a routine anti-crime patrol on June 15, 2026.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said officers intercepted Salisu while he was riding a motorcycle and discovered two sachets containing the suspected illicit drugs during a search.

According to the police, Salisu confessed during interrogation that he had collected the drugs from a 26-year-old woman, Faith Eze, for delivery to an accomplice identified only as “Gurgu,” who is currently at large.

Acting on the information provided by the suspect, police operatives launched a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of Eze, who also allegedly admitted involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and dismantle the criminal network behind the operation.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Ali Umar Fage, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and abuse, warning those involved in the sale and distribution of illicit substances to desist or face the full weight of the law.
