The birth announcement has raised fresh interest in his previously undisclosed relationship with entrepreneur Abiodun Tokunbo.
Yoruba actor Olanrewaju “Baba Ijesha” James and fashion entrepreneur Abiodun Tokunbo, CEO of Luminee Couture, have welcomed a baby boy.
The actor shared the news on his Facebook page, introducing the child as King Kagar.
“In quiet ways, in unseen ways, God has been writing a story only He could tell. We thank the Almighty for blessing us with a healthy baby boy,” he wrote.
The development surprised many followers, as neither Baba Ijesha nor Ms Tokunbo had publicly disclosed a romantic relationship before now. Some social media users initially questioned whether the announcement was a skit or promotional content, a common practice among entertainers online.
However, actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi, a longtime ally of Baba Ijesha, appeared to confirm the news when he shared a video of the couple and congratulated them on the birth.
“And to God be the glory, God just blessed Omiyinka Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha and CEO of Luminee, with a bouncing baby boy,” Mr Fabiyi wrote on Instagram.
In a separate Instagram post, Ms Tokunbo described the birth as a long-awaited blessing.
Quoting several Bible verses, she thanked God for the child and dedicated his life to divine protection and guidance.
“Our little miracle is finally here,” she wrote.
Her message also referenced “12 years after Anjola Sarigu,” a statement many followers interpreted as a reference to her older child.
Before Monday’s announcement, Ms Tokunbo was widely known among her followers as a single mother and celebrity fashion designer for top Yoruba actresses, including Toyin Abraham. Neither she nor Baba Ijesha has publicly clarified when their relationship began or when they got married.
While Baba Ijesha referred to Ms Tokunbo as his wife in his announcement, she did not specifically describe him as her husband in her own post.
Baba Ijesha’s announcement of the birth of his child marked the third time he had publicly spoken about his romantic relationships.
Beyond his failed marriage, the comic actor also disclosed during his trial that actress and comedienne Damilola “Princess” Adekoya was once his lover.
In March, during an appearance on actress Biola Adebayo’s “Talk to B” podcast, Baba Ijesha spoke about a previous marriage, which he said deteriorated after his wife relocated to the United Kingdom.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that Baba Ijesha was released from prison in November 2025 after serving a jail term following his conviction in a child sexual assault case that generated widespread public debate about child protection and accountability within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Since his release, the actor has gradually returned to public life through interviews, social media appearances and public engagements.
Monday’s announcement marks one of the most significant personal developments the actor has publicly shared since leaving prison and signals a new chapter in his private life, even as public discussions around his conviction continue.
