Pokop Bupwatda reappointed Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH)

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Pokop Bupwatda as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in Plateau State.

The development was contained in a statement signed by Bridget Omini, Assistant Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations of JUTH.

The statement said that the hospital’s management, staff, and patients congratulated Bupwatda on his renewed mandate and expressed appreciation to Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the hospital’s leadership.

Bupwatda, in his reaction, thanked the president for the trust and pledged to consolidate the gains of his first tenure.

He said his administration would continue to prioritise improved healthcare delivery, infrastructure development and staff welfare in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the health sector.

Bupwatda, a medical practitioner and public health consultant, has spent several years at JUTH, where he rose through various clinical and administrative positions.

Before he was appointed substantive CMD, he served as Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee and later as Acting Chief Medical Director.

He was appointed substantive CMD in 2022 and assumed office on 30 August of that year.

Since assuming office, Bupwatda has overseen initiatives to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the hospital’s infrastructure and systems.

His administration has also pursued digital transformation and institutional reforms, including efforts to expand electronic medical records and strengthen diagnostic services at the hospital.

With his reappointment, Bupwatda is expected to continue implementing ongoing reforms while addressing challenges affecting healthcare delivery at the nation’s foremost tertiary health institution in Plateau State.

JUTH said it remained committed to providing quality, accessible and affordable tertiary healthcare services to patients in Plateau State and beyond.
