Tinubu’s Reforms Have Increased Funds for State Development — Presidency

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said that the administration’s economic reforms have increased the resources available to state governments, enabling them to execute more developmental projects.

Onanuga made the remark on Tuesday in Umuahia, Abia State, during a reception organised for members of the Renewed Hope Projects Media Tour, who were in the state to inspect projects executed by both the Federal Government and the Abia State Government.

According to him, the media tour would provide participants with the opportunity to objectively assess key projects and witness the development efforts being undertaken across the country.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in driving national development, commending the cordial relationship that exists between the two levels of government.

“The federal and state governments are working together for the progress of Nigerians. The resources now available to states are enabling them to undertake projects that improve the lives of citizens,” Onanuga said.

Speaking at the event, Governor Alex Otti, represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, described the visit as a significant step towards promoting transparency, accountability and public awareness of government programmes and projects.

Otti noted that the media plays a critical role in providing citizens with accurate information and urged journalists to report with context, balance and truth.

He stated that his administration had, over the past three years, focused on rebuilding public trust through transparent governance, infrastructure development, improved security, education and healthcare reforms, as well as policies aimed at supporting businesses and attracting investments.

“The progress being recorded is not merely reflected in statistics; it is visible in the renewed confidence of our people and the ongoing transformation of communities across the state, which reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

The governor also commended the Presidency for initiating the media tour, saying it would give Nigerians firsthand information about government projects and policies.

He further emphasised the need to mentor the next generation of journalists, noting that the future of the profession depends on young practitioners being equipped with both technical skills and strong ethical values.

“We need young professionals who understand that journalism is not merely a profession but a public trust. We welcome scrutiny because we believe that genuine progress should be seen, assessed and reported objectively,” he added.
