Troops Rescue District Head, Foil Terror Assaults In Northwest

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed the operational details in a statement issued on Friday.

Danja said the July 2 operation saw armed terrorists riding on several motorcycles invaded Farin Hawa Village and abducted the District Head, Mubarak Sharin.

He said troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, pursued the fleeing gunmen, “neutralising one of the assailants, disrupting their withdrawal and rescued the kidnapped district head.”

In another development in Katsina State, Danja said the troops also “neutralised one terrorist” during separate operations in Dutsinma and Malumfashi local government areas of Katsina State.

He continued, In Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, Danja said troops of Sector 2 on fighting patrol encountered suspected terrorists between Amara and Chakau Junction after the attackers opened fire on the advancing soldiers.

He said the troops returned fire, forcing the assailants to flee and “recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles used by the terrorists.”

Danja also said troops, working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, responded to a terrorist attack on the outskirts of Sabon Garin and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, where they “neutralised one terrorist during the ensuing firefight.”

In Zamfara State, Danja said troops of Sector 2 repelled an attack on their location at Dauran in Bukkuyum Local Government Area.

During the operation, he said reinforcements forced the attackers to retreat, while troops “recovered one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, thirty-five rounds of ammunition, a bandolier, and a hydration pack (CamelBak).”

Danja said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities across the North-West and sustain pressure on armed groups operating in the region.

He added that the Joint Task Force would continue offensive operations while working with other security agencies and local communities to improve security and protect lives and property across the North-West.
