Why Gbenga Daniel’s Profile Is Experiencing A Huge Boost
The former governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel is experiencing a major profile boost.
Information at hand attributes this development to the antics of his political opponents.
Leaders of the rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state are quarreling. And it has resulted in open acrimony that is endlessly profiting Daniel, the Senator representing Ogun East on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The quarrel has further postured Daniel as a game changer any political party should be fortunate to have – a development that has further enhanced the talk of the town initiatives accentuating his relevance.
PDP Chairman in Ogun state, Sikirulai Ogundele has pulled away from the party’s serial gubernatorial candidate – and main financier – Ladi Adebutu.
Ogundele, in cutting ties with Adebutu accused the gubernatorial candidate of working against the party because he refused repeated appeals from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to let Daniel leave – which would have helped the party win key electoral seats.
Daniel, a former two-term governor of Ogun state, left the PDP after 22 years to join the APC in 2012 and has turned into a central character securing the highest-votes-ever to win a senatorial election – 115,147 votes in 2023.
The Ogun state PDP Chairman placed the blame of Daniel’s exit from the party at the feet of Adebutu and, in different words painted it as a major blow.
This development comes at a time Senator Daniel is at the heart of determining who becomes the next Govenor of Ogun state – and has surged his status as a major political power.
And, also swung the words on the streets in his favor as the politician to copy in Ogun state.
