As political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election intensify, activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has alleged that Peter Obi, a recent entrant into the Nigeria Democratic Congress, is working in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adeyanju made the claim in a post on X, where he criticised Nigeria’s opposition leaders, describing them as ineffective and deeply divided.
He expressed concern that despite developments in the country over the past three years, opposition figures have failed to present a united front.
“Peter Obi is working for Tinubu. The opposition leaders in Nigeria are the most useless in Africa. They are too irresponsible. For Nigeria to still have a divided opposition in 2026… is a huge shame,” he wrote.
The activist further criticised the state of opposition politics, accusing its leaders of undermining national progress.
The remarks come amid recent political realignments, with Obi defecting from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress alongside former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections.
In the 2023 presidential election, Obi contested under the Labour Party, while Tinubu ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
