A dwarf aspirant for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mahmud Sadis Buba, has withdrawn from the race.
There is age row surrounding the politician’s debut, with reports claiming that was born in August 2010 — 10 years short of minimum age requirement for legislative seat in Nigeria.
In a withdrawal letter addressed to the Kaduna State chairman of the APC, Mr Buba said his decision followed reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of the party.
He explained that after consultations with his family, political associates, and party stakeholders, he resolved that stepping down was in the best interest of the APC and the unity of the party ahead of the election.
According to him, rallying behind a single candidate was necessary to secure victory for the party and ensure the continued progress of the constituency and Kaduna State.
Mr Buba thanked Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the APC leadership in the state for giving him the opportunity to participate in the nomination process.
He described the experience as enriching and appreciated his supporters and constituents for standing by him throughout the contest.
The aspirant, therefore, reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stressing that his withdrawal should not be seen as a sign of weakness but a sacrifice for the unity and success of the party.
He pledged to work for the victory of the party’s consensus candidate and urged his supporters to remain calm, united, and fully support whoever emerges as the APC candidate for the constituency.
