Police Arrest 28-Year-Old Over N200,000 POS Robbery

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of N200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.
The police also recovered a pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.
The Enugu State Police Command said operatives attached to the Udenu Division arrested the suspect on October 18, 2026, at about 12:26 p.m., with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
According to the command, the arrest followed a report that the suspect had robbed the victim at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, at about 9 a.m. on October 17.
The police said the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled, allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who pursued him.
The command added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
He is expected to be arraigned in court after investigators conclude their work.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives and the Neighbourhood Watch Group for their roles in the arrest.
He also urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to the police and other recognised security agencies, reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state.
