Troops Arrest Notorious Terrorist In Kaduna, Raid Dogo Gide’s Hideouts
Troops of the Nigerian military have arrested a suspected notorious terrorist in Kaduna State and launched clearance operations against hideouts linked to armed groups, including those associated with wanted kingpin Dogo Gide, in Zamfara State.
The suspect, identified as Auta Maikyala, was arrested on November 5 at a hospital in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State during an intelligence-led operation by troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
A statement issued on Friday by the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, said Maikyala was arrested while seeking medical attention for a gunshot wound allegedly sustained during an encounter with a rival faction.
The military said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had allegedly participated in several attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling operations.
He is currently in custody for further investigation and prosecution.
In a related operation, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA on November 5 raided terrorist hideouts in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The military said several hideouts were cleared during the operation, which was aimed at dismantling criminal enclaves, restricting the activities of armed groups and improving security in the affected communities.
Similarly, the Air Component of the Nigerian Air Force conducted air interdiction operations against suspected terrorist locations in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to the statement, the airstrikes targeted locations suspected to be associated with wanted terrorist kingpin, Dogo Gide, following intelligence reports that armed groups were gathering in the area to plan and coordinate criminal activities.
The military said troops were maintaining dominance over the affected areas, adding that the operations would sustain pressure on armed groups across the Joint Operations Area.
It urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information on suspected terrorists and their activities to support efforts to protect lives and property.
