2027: Tinubu appoints Keyamo director of APC air mobilisation – Official

The appointment places Mr Keyamo at the head of a campaign directorate responsible for coordinating air travel and aviation logistics for nationwide campaign activities.
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 re-election campaign.
Tunde Moshood, the minister’s special adviser on Media and Communications, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC Presidential Campaign Council is coordinating preparations for Mr Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
Under the arrangement, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, will serve as Deputy Director I.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Umar, serves as Deputy Director II.
Mr Moshood said the appointments reflected the strategic importance of air transportation, operational coordination and aviation logistics to a nationwide presidential campaign.
He said the directorate would coordinate air travel, facilitate arrangements for designated campaign officials and personnel, and support activities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
According to him, the directorate would collaborate with other campaign structures to ensure effective planning, operational efficiency and appropriate deployment of logistical resources.
Mr Moshood said Mr Keyamo’s appointment brought the experience of a serving aviation minister to the campaign’s organisational structure.
He added that Mr Keyamo had pursued policy initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector, improving its international standing and positioning the country as a major African aviation hub.
Mr Moshood said Mr Keyamo’s familiarity with the industry’s operational demands was expected to support air-mobilisation planning and establish an effective framework for coordinating the directorate’s activities.
He added that Ms Kuku and Mr Umar would contribute aviation-sector leadership and technical experience to the directorate.
Mr Moshood said air transportation was important to campaign logistics, particularly when political leaders and officials needed to visit multiple locations within tight schedules.
He said the directorate would support campaign operations through structured planning, stakeholder coordination, efficient scheduling and appropriate logistical arrangements.
However, he stressed that its effectiveness would depend on collaboration with other directorates, clear operational procedures and compliance with aviation safety requirements and applicable electoral laws.
Mr Moshood said campaign-related arrangements must remain separate from official government functions and be undertaken through properly authorised channels.
