Egypt sends over 280 aid trucks to tackle Gaza bread shortage

It said the supplies would be handed over to the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza for distribution to bakeries whose operations had been disrupted.
The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) says it has sent more than 280 trucks loaded with flour and food supplies to Gaza to help address a severe bread shortage.
It said the supplies would be handed over to the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza for distribution to bakeries whose operations had been disrupted.
The ERC added that it sent an aid convoy toward Gaza early on Sunday, carrying more than 3,676 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, including flour, food baskets, relief items, medicines and fuel for hospitals, bakeries and other vital facilities.
It was the 302nd convoy from Egypt to Gaza since the ERC launched its pro-Gaza humanitarian aid initiative in late July 2025.
The ERC said it has maintained a broader presence since the crisis began, helping deliver more than 1 million tonnes of humanitarian aid with over 75,000 volunteers.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s health authorities said in their latest daily update on Sunday that four new deaths and 14 injuries were recorded in the previous 24 hours.
The latest figures brought the number of deaths recorded since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire took effect in October 2025 to 1,551, while the number of injured rose to 5,573.
The overall Palestinian death toll since the conflict began on 7 October 2023 has risen to 74,544, with 175,692 injured, according to the health authorities.
