The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) says it will carry out a planned power outage at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station in Nsukka to carry out maintenance and repairs.

The Head of Communications at MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement in Enugu that the planned power outage would run from Nov. 5 to 10, from 9a.m. to 5p.m. daily.

Ezeh explained that the planned outage was to enable the TCN technical team to carry out maintenance work on some equipment at the station.

According to him, the exercise will affect electricity supply to the UNN, SUMAS, and Orba 33KV feeders, resulting in power interruptions for customers served by these feeders during the stated period.

“The areas affected by this outage include Ukopi, Opi-Agu, Eha-Alumona, Orba Town, Obollo-Afor, parts of Obollo-Eke, Enugu Ezike, Ibagwa, Nkalagu, Obukpa, Okpaligbo, Iheaka, Edem Ani, Agbani, Uzo-Uwani, Obimo, Nkpologu, and Lejja.

“Other areas include Nguru, Aku, Ogbede and surrounding communities as well as Odim Gate, Nkpor, UNN, Nru, Ede Oballa, El Tabera Estate, Ikenga Estate, Wilson Company, Umakashi, Isiakpu, G.R.A., and Ogige Main Market.”

Ezeh said that MEDL regretted any inconvenience the planned outage might cause residents and its esteemed customers, while appealing for their patience and understanding.

“The exercise is necessary to facilitate essential technical work aimed at improving the reliability and quality of electricity supply to customers,” he added.
