The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, has charged Area Commanders to intensify supervision of divisions under their jurisdictions to ensure discipline, monitor officers’ conduct and improve operational performance.

Afolabi gave the directive on Monday, during a strategic meeting with the Command’s Management Team and Area Commanders.

He also directed officers to strengthen security at police stations and other formations through adequate deployment and effective supervision of station guards.

The CP frowned at the practice of arrest by proxy and warned that extortion by police officers in the course of their duties would not be tolerated.

He announced that the Command’s X-Squad would monitor officers’ activities to ensure professionalism and address misconduct.

On intelligence gathering and crime prevention, Afolabi directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure that crime maps were provided at their respective formations.

He further mandated Area Intelligence Officers (AIOs) and Divisional Intelligence Officers (DIOs) to update the maps daily to strengthen crime mapping, intelligence gathering and proactive policing.

The Commissioner also emphasised strict compliance with the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, urging officers to uphold discipline, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to effective supervision, intelligence-led policing and professional conduct to ensure the safety and security of residents across Abia State.
