Police Arrest Five Suspects, Recover Prado Stolen From Event Centre

The use of digital tracking technology has helped the police recover a stolen Toyota Prado SUV in Abuja, hours after it was allegedly driven away from an event centre in Garki, with one suspect arrested.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said the vehicle was recovered on Sunday, October 25, 2026, within the Garki area, following a complaint by its owner, Haruna Alhaji.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, Alhaji reported the theft at Garki Police Station at about 8:20 a.m.
The stolen vehicle, a dark ash Toyota Prado SUV with registration number ABC 60 CZ X, was reportedly taken from the parking lot of an event centre in Area 8, Garki, Abuja.
Preliminary investigations indicated that an unidentified man drove the SUV out of the premises at about 3:10 p.m. without the owner’s knowledge.
Police operatives subsequently launched an investigation and deployed digital tracking technology to trace the vehicle.
The SUV was recovered at about 7:30 p.m. on the same day, while a suspect identified as Samaila Mamza was arrested in connection with the incident.
The police said Mamza remained in custody and would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, urged residents to install vehicle tracking devices and remain vigilant to help prevent vehicle theft and facilitate recovery.
He also urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or call the command’s emergency lines on 08032003913 and 08061581938.
