Man Stabs 21-Year-Old To Death Over Roasted Meat In Adamawa
A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, has allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old man, Haggai Markus, to death following a disagreement over roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening at Mararaban Vimtim, where the two men were said to have had a misunderstanding over meat allegedly taken from a butcher’s table.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the disagreement escalated when Augustine allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Markus in the chest.
The victim reportedly collapsed and died at the scene.
The police said the incident was reported around 8:45pm on November 4 by the deceased’s father, identified as Markus Gabo.
Following the report, operatives attached to the Mubi North Police Division visited the scene and found the 21-year-old lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
The police recovered a sharp knife suspected to have been used in the attack and arrested Augustine, who is now in custody.
Markus’s body was subsequently evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a doctor confirmed him dead.
The police said the suspect and the case file would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Umar Hassan, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them that justice would be served.
He also urged residents to avoid violence and resolve disagreements peacefully rather than resorting to physical attacks.
