Bandits Kill ISLAMIC Cleric In Katsina

Bandits have shot dead prominent Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, in an attack outside the cleric’s residence in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the killings in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu.

According to the police, the attack occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 26, when two armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on the victims.

Sadiq-Aliyu said both men sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the nearest hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed them dead.

He added that the Divisional Police Officer in Dutsin-Ma promptly led a team of operatives to the scene after receiving information about the incident.

“Investigations have commenced and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the police spokesperson said.

The police did not disclose further details about the motive for the attack or the identities of the assailants.
