Standard Chartered Nigeria wins International Banking Excellence Award at 2026 BAFI Awards

The award comes as Standard Chartered continues to draw on its international network and local market expertise to connect clients in Nigeria to opportunities across global markets.
Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has won the International Banking Excellence Award at the 2026 Banking and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, organised by BusinessDay.
Commenting on the recognition, Ayodeji Adelagun, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, said:
“We are honoured to receive the International Banking Excellence Award. The recognition reflects the strength of our franchise, the commitment of our colleagues and the trust our clients continue to place in us.
Nigeria remains an important market for Standard Chartered. By combining deep local expertise with the breadth of our international network, we are able to connect clients to capital and opportunities across markets. We remain focused on supporting their ambitions, delivering innovative solutions and contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.”
The recognition comes against the backdrop of Standard Chartered’s continued role in significant transactions supporting investment, trade and economic activity in Nigeria and across Africa.
In September 2026, Standard Chartered acted as Financial Adviser, Global Coordinator, Lead Arranger and Bookrunner for the US$1.1 billion financing supporting the IMA Gas Development Project, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Amni International. The financing supports a major gas development project in Nigeria and demonstrates the Bank’s ability to combine international capital, structuring expertise and local market knowledge to support strategic infrastructure.
Earlier in the year, Standard Chartered and the International Finance Corporation announced a US$300 million risk-sharing facility aimed at strengthening supply chains and supporting business growth across eight African markets, including Nigeria. The facility supports companies in sectors including agriculture, healthcare and manufacturing, with Standard Chartered acting as originator and provider of supply chain and trade finance.
Standard Chartered NIgeria also received recognition in 2026 for its digital and transaction banking capabilities, including Best Data Analytics Initiative – Africa, Best API Initiative of the Year – Nigeria, Best Virtual Account Initiative – West Africa, and Outstanding Payments Solution for Corporates.
The International Banking Excellence Award adds to these recognitions and comes as Standard Chartered continues to combine its international network, local expertise and product capabilities to support clients in Nigeria and across its markets.
