Suspected kidnappers have abducted about six residents of Nuru Suraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna, in a fresh attack that triggered panic in the neighbourhood on Tuesday morning.

A resident, identified as Maman Hamid, whose house is close to those of the victims, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the attackers gained entry into the estate through its second gate before carrying out the abductions.

She said military personnel pursued the suspected kidnappers, leading to the rescue of some victims, although the assailants escaped.

The number of people rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing were not immediately established as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has renewed concerns over security in Millennium City, a developing residential area on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis that has recorded kidnapping incidents in recent years.

Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about attacks on homes and residential estates in the area, prompting calls for stronger security patrols, improved surveillance and tighter control of estate access points.

In a previous incident, suspected kidnappers reportedly abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate in Millennium City on the night of October 6, 2026. The family was later rescued.

On October 12, police authorities reportedly announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido. AK-47 rifles were also recovered.

The latest attack has intensified calls for sustained intelligence-led operations against kidnapping networks and improved security around residential estates.

The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to comment on the latest incident as of the time of filing this report.
