The Enugu State Police Command has arrested one Ugbor Chika Paul (male, 30) over alleged serial rape, robbery and sextortion (cyberstalling) of female victims.

The arrest was contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Tuesday.

Ndukwe said preliminary investigations indicated that he lured female Point-of-Sale (POS) operators to secluded locations under the pretext of conducting transactions, where he allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted them.

According to him, “The suspect also allegedly used Facebook, posing as Franklin Umeh, to lure another victim. A phone recovered from him reportedly contains nude images and video clips of identified and unidentified victims.”

He explained that the first victim, a 20-year-old POS operator at Akwata Market, Enugu, whose identity is withheld, was allegedly lured to a bush behind St Peter’s Church, Coal Camp, at about 11am on 21 May 2026, where the suspect allegedly robbed and raped her, taking ₦600,000.

The second victim, a 30-year-old POS operator at the same market, was allegedly lured to the same location at about 5pm on 11 August 2026 and robbed of ₦120,00p, after unsuccessful attempts to also rape her, Ndukwe said.

The third victim, aged 21, was allegedly lured through Facebook by the suspect, posing as Franklin Umeh, to Old Park, Enugu, at about 11:30am on 4 October 2026, before being taken to a bush around Udi Siding, the statement added.

“He allegedly raped and sexually assaulted her, recorded her nude, and robbed her of ₦100,000 and her phone. He subsequently threatened to circulate the video unless she paid ₦200,000 and allegedly used her phone to contact some of her WhatsApp contacts,” it was gathered.

Ndukwe stated that investigations were ongoing, and the suspect would be arraigned in court upon conclusion. He advised other victims “to come forward and assist the investigation”, and called on “young women who have experienced cyberstalking or sextortion to report such incidents to the police for appropriate action”.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Bitrus Giwa, in the release, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting residents from sexual violence, robbery and other crimes.

He urged the public, particularly women and business operators, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
