Police Arrest Convicted Drug Dealer Using Teenager As Courier

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a convicted drug dealer accused of using a 14-year-old boy to deliver suspected methamphetamine to a customer, recovering several illicit substances from his shop and residence.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Samuel Ogochukwu, was arrested on Monday, October 26, 2026, after police operatives intercepted the teenager while he was allegedly delivering a pinch of a granular whitish substance suspected to be methamphetamine, popularly known as Ice.
The arrest marks the fourth drug-related operation conducted by the command’s Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) in ten days, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.
Police said the 14-year-old boy, identified as Samuel Nkemakolan Kosi, told operatives during interrogation that Ogochukwu had sent him to deliver the suspected drug to a customer.
Following the disclosure, detectives reportedly traced and arrested the suspect at his location.
A search of his shop and residence allegedly led to the recovery of 3.5 grammes of suspected methamphetamine, 17 sachets of 100mg Tramadol capsules, five sachets of 300mg Pregabalin capsules and seven sachets of Diazepam.
Other items recovered included 12 Exol tablets, two wraps of a substance known as “Yellow Boys” and one sachet of a substance called “Shine Shine Leather”.
During the investigation, Ogochukwu allegedly told detectives that he received supplies of illicit drugs through waybills from Onitsha, Anambra State.
The police said the minor had been handled in accordance with juvenile protection practices and would be reunited with his family after counselling.
The command added that the principal suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the VCRU for what he described as its consistency and effective policing, warning criminal elements that the command would sustain its operations against drug trafficking and other crimes.
According to the police, all suspects arrested in the three previous drug operations within the ten-day period have been convicted.
The command urged residents to support its efforts to tackle drug trafficking and other criminal activities across Bauchi State.
